Hello, I hope you enjoy reading about the Beebe School!
My name is Susan Vatalaro and I am very proud to be the principal of the Beebe School. Beebe is a great place to learn and make new friends. The theme of the Beebe School is Environmental and Health Science. School-wide special topic themes are selected yearly to enhance the curriculum. This year's topic is "Endangered Species." We are in our third year of a Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Grant. The model "Using the Environment as an Integrated Context for Learning," provides the link between academic subjects and real life experiences. Our dedicated and creative teachers, along with our parent groups and community members have provided many wonderful educational opportunities for our students.
I grew up in the city of Malden. I attended the Leonard School, Beebe Jr. High and graduated from Malden High School in 1967. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Salem State College in 1971. I later received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a second Master's Degree in School Administration. My first teaching position was at the Leonard Elementary School, the school I attended. My new position is Principal of the Beebe School. I attended the old Beebe Jr. High. As you can see, my ties to Malden are very strong!
